Setting the Standard

By Robert Braun

Rex Ryan is clearly one of the top defensive coordinators in the league, but will that success follow him as a head coach?

He does have a lot of things going in his favor when he moves his office to the New York Jets. The Jets run Ryan's beloved 3-4 defense, they have an underachieving first round pick in Vernon Gholston who, under you know who's tutelage, could finally start proving to people why he was taken so high in the draft.

But he also inherits a very shaky QB situation, Brett Favre will most likely retire, and Kellen Clemens is well......Kellen Clemens, they will probably look to the draft to fix that one.

Also, Ravens assistants turned head coaches are a combined 130-141-1, and carry a meager playoff record of 1-4.

Jack Del Rio: 50-46 (1-2 in the postseason)
Marvin Lewis: 46-49-1 (0-1 in the postseason)
Mike Nolan: 18-37
Mike Singletary: 5-4
Mike Smith: 11-5 (0-1 in the postseason)

(Whats up with the Ravens and people named Mike?)

Rex Ryan ?-?

We'll see.
