Draft Day

Written by: Peter Coolbaugh

Compared to MLB, I know nothing about the NFL. And when it comes to draft time, I know even less. Given the fact that Ozzie Newsome is the best GM in the league, I think he will be fine in making our picks.

Look at last year... we took Joe Flacco. I admit I was not sold on the guy probably up until November but in hindsight, it was a steal. The Ravens do have a first rate track record when it comes to first round picks with only a few minor blips (yes, Kyle Boller is one).

Jonathan Ogden, Ray Lewis, and Ed Reed were all first round picks who should end up in Canton. Will this year produce a similar find? We don't know yet but we have to see what we need most. What areas could the Ravens use help at right now?

My thinking includes a CB, WR, LB, and kicker. But like I have said before, I am not a football guy so my gut impressions really mean squat.

All of this is speculation of course until the weekend comes to a close. Then the next few weeks after that can be spent analyzing who we did get and why we may have passed on others. If the NFL Draft is your version of heaven, then have a great utopian experience this weekend.
