At approximately 9 p.m. this evening (July 29), the Ravens agreed to terms with their first round draft pick, OT Michael Oher.
I must admit, when the Ravens first drafted him, I wasn't too thrilled. Like the majority of you, I was shocked when the Ravens failed to take a receiver (which they still desperately need, especially with the retirement of Derrick Mason).
But with Oher anchoring the right side and the mammoth Jared Gaither playing left tackle, the Ravens have two extremely promising tackles to protect Joe Flacco.
Much of Todd Heap's time last season was spent assisting the right side of the offensive line protect Flacco, which subsequently removed him from the passing game. I expect to see Heap used quite a bit differently this season. While the subtraction of Derrick Mason hurts quite a bit, we should view the Oher signing as Heap's re-introduction to the offense.
