Week 1 - In The Books

Written by: Peter Coolbaugh

Rex Ryan ran his mouth. Rex Ryan lost in the marquee match up of the week. And while the Ravens squeaked by in points, they really did dominate a hapless Jets team. Yes!

The vaunted and re-tooled Ravens offense did not manifest in week one. That is OK, because with Ryan as a HC, you know his defense is always going to be prepared. But it is the old reliable, the Ravens D (minus Ed Reed) who took the Jets to school before a national audience and sounded their bell - and then some.

With the J-E-T-S in the rear view mirror, we now get to face the Bungles and their dual loudmouth WRs in Chad Johnson (I refuse to call him Occowhatever) and Mr. Owens. The Bengals were brought back to earth last week in Massachusetts and will be out for blood in their home opener, which happens to be against a division rival.

Am I scared? No. Can we lose? Of Course. This is the NFL and unless you are the 1972 Dolphins, you will lose along the way. The 2007 cheater Pats are not a real team since they thought they were above the law.

I see us beating Cincinnati but only by a few. This offense with Boldin and TJ needs time to gel and a few preseason games is not enough time. It might be a season to remember here in Charm City but it will take time to get our legs firmly on the ground.

More opinion and insight next week as I will dissect the Ravens game then.
